Elevator Pitch
I am a software engineer with expertise in building and benchmarking recommendation systems. During my master's degree project, I developed and tested multiple recommendation systems using microservices and Docker.

I have worked for both large corporations, such as Dell EMC with over 150k employees, and small start-ups of varying sizes. My experience spans across different industries, including agriculture (Fort Supply Technologies, LLC), data storage (Dell EMC), and education (BYU's Independent Study).

Some notable projects I have worked on include preparing for and recovering from data center crashes and hacks, building a custom code linter for my team to save time, and creating a system to simulate user experiences with thousands of virtual machines. No joke, my re-usable code stood up thousands of VMs at a time in order to a data center fleet of new and old hard drives. Additionally, I have optimized queries and code to significantly improve the loading speed of reports and pages for end-customers.

I am well-versed in using git and find it to be a seamless tool for version control. I am proficient in using git rebase and prefer the command line interface for working with git.

On a personal note, I have developed a custom ZSH terminal theme that I use regularly. Opening a terminal is almost always the first things I do when I boot up my computer.

Current
Rust is such an interesting language and a breath of fresh air. It has been a while since I dabbled in C-like languages but Rust really gives me hope in the future. Huge performance, easy to learn and performant. The future is now!

I love my programmable keyboard. Feel free to view my current keyboard layout.

Flutter has proven to be everything I wanted in a cross-platform app framework! I used it to build an education app for teachers (in private beta). Connecting it to Google Firebase was a breeze. All in all, alpha version was ready in 8 hours, beta in 20 after many quick iterations and new features. I just need to generalize it a bit and monetize now.
Off the clock joys
Piano and foreign languages continue to engage me. After a decent stint of 50 hour weeks, I finally had time to take some time off. And of course I played some piano.

Off-season travel is super fun. Carlsbad caverns blew me away. San Diego zoo and hiking are go-to favorites.
